In the mid 1980s, Terry and Cindy McFarland convinced me the Lone Star State was the place to be. Next thing I knew, I was living with them in Spring, Texas and familiarizing myself with Texas culture.
Back then, we were headed in fair directions, career-wise, but our spiritual paths were in need of some shaping up. The McFarlands got things in order spiritually before I did. Our lives took different paths and it was a good many years before I gave up on the wrong pursuits and dedicated my life to the right ones.
The McFarlands and I have once again, converged on the same path, and the reunion has been excellent!
Although we’ve lived overseas at the same time, and in neighboring countries, we didn’t get to meet up again in person until a few months ago. They’ve been stateside, serving their deputation and we (my sister, Nee and I) were blessed and privileged to attend a homecoming celebration for them, in Evansville, Indiana, several months back.
A little insight on deputation...
It’s when missionaries, serving abroad, return home to visit the church congregations providing a variety of support for their work in other countries. These visits often (usually) involve a huge amount of travel, and are quite expensive. Much of the monies needed to make this “update circuit” (my own term, not the ministerial organization’s) come from the missionaries personal funds. Thankfully, in many situations, when funds are tight, there’s God... He makes a way, often through others, that are greatly blessed from their bread-casting.
The good times continued...
The following Sunday, I got to hear Cindy preach, for the first time in my life... Wow!!! SERIOUSLY, WOWWW!!!! She was anointed. Her message was powerful and I’m so thankful I was able to be there to experience it.
Afterward, Terry preached. Equally anointed. Equally powerful. Equally life-enhancing!
This couple’s testimony should be in a book-- Just sayin'...
For folks in a health challenge, a financial challenge, a faith challenge... find the McFarlands' testimonies on the web and you’ll be given tools to grow, gain ground, reclaim lost ground and walk in favor, possibly, probably in ways you never dreamed of.
It’s amazing what God can do with a desperate man and a chair...
Only God could have kept this family together. Only god could have literally cut Terry off from his intentional destruction, and set him on the path he’s walking today. He’s living in grace, healing, mercy and helping others do the same.
If you’ve never been in service with these folks, you’ve missed out on supernatural awesomeness, that expresses the amazing, restorative power of God.
Terry and Cindy McFarland: Missionaries to Ireland
Debils, great and small, the enemies of our spirits and souls, hate us. They’re always, ALWAYS engaged in warfare to destroy us. Don’t fool yourself into thinking the battle isn’t constant. It is absolutely constant.
Thankfully, those in Christ are covered by His hand of protection. He’s even assigned many of the hosts of Heaven to help protect us. This provides reprieves and bouts of relief from this lifetime of pressure. If our great God is anything, He’s merciful, even when it doesn’t seem so, to mortal understanding.
Yet, there are still challenges we must meet in both the physical and spiritual. The McFarlands have been enduring such a battle the last few weeks, with an intense onset of Covid.
They’ve both been acutely ill, leaving them unable to continue with their deputation until they’re well enough to travel again. This situation has not only caused physical angst, but it’s depleted the time they’ve been needing to spend with the North American congregations who provide financial support to God’s work in Ireland.
In the thick of this setback, a lady in the area they’re staying, as they endure the Covid storm, got to work in helping to alleviate an aspect of their dilemma she was able to help with. She called it, The Red Balloon Mission, or on social media, #TheRedBalloonMission.
Below is an excerpt from a newly developed website, outlining the mission and how others can join it.
The McFarlands are the grass roots missionaries to Ireland.
Who knew that a successful businessman, living the good life in Florida, would receive a call to mission’s field in a country which had no UPCI missionary?
They have come to the US in order to raise monthly supporters to help fund their mission in Ireland. However, this has been one of the toughest years (for all of us). They haven’t been able to connect like they have needed to.
Even worse, now they are stuck with Covid in Bastrop, Tx in an RV park.
They are at a stand-still. But, we know a Waymaker!
Enroll today and help us help them get back to Ireland.
They need a miracle.
Over 100 miracles!
Just Over 100 Monthly supporters at $50 each. Before October!

My thanks to the Lori Green family for being quick to step up to the task, widen their tent and take on this project. May the good Lord’s great blessings and favor be upon their lives as they work to sustain and enlarge the Kingdom of God.
Thank you for your visit today and prayers for a beautifully blessed weekend.
