Ever been prone for attention issues? Like struggling to stay with a subject while your mind changes channels, or takes you to some far away land for some extraordinary adventure while your professor delivers a monotone breakdown on the best ways to price a casket? If that’s you story, you’ll know what I mean about how frustrating it is to try focusing on something that doesn’t grip your attention.
Much of the time, it’s not a big deal, but when it comes to learning things we have to remember for our jobs, personal information, or whatever other necessary processes we might be trying to develop an ability for, it can be a frustrating deficit. Thankfully, not all help for poor attention span requires a prescription. I’ve been resorting to something simple, tasty and I’ve found something very effective in helping me focus is available in most households. Caffeine!
I usually get it from coffee, but it’s readily available in chocolate and tea as well.
When my nephew was little, his teachers noticed he struggled to pay attention in class. Sometimes it was worse than others but was a daily issue. His pediatrician suggested a cup of coffee in the mornings before school, or cocoa, or even mixing the two together. They preferred to try that route before resorting to a prescription, possibly non-organic med.
Turned out that morning coffee was an excellent solution. His teachers noticed an immediate improvement that stretched into his homework studies as well. It was effective for several years allowing him to bypass synthetic ADD meds until he was in his second year of high school.
For me, I made it through high school and college with coffee and chocolate as two of my primary ADD deflectors. The third one was sticky notes!
Do you struggle with attention? If so, what sort of ADD deflectors have you come up with to help you stay focused? Leave us a comment. We'd love to learn what methods or tools help you to stay on task.
Thanks for your visit today and hope to see you back again for next week's edition.
Until then, Shalom!

I've never heard of that before! That would've been nice to know back in the teaching Sun. School days when parents decided that their kids didn't need their ADD meds over the weekend; we had a few students like that.
