MustRead: The Lotus and the Artichoke, Vegan Recipes from World Adventures by Justin P. Moore9/21/2018
My friend, author Peggy Cole, of In the World, pointed my attention to the work of her nephew, Justin P. Moore, a while back. Justin is a literal, world-class chef, specializing in a wide-array of vegan recipes. His awesome website is fitly titled, The Lotus and the Artichoke.
I’d been following him on Instagram for a good while before I got my first of his books, and have gotten loads of recipe ideas from his excellent foodie-photography. His book is equally up to par, offering a smorgasbord of delicious vegan dishes that will satisfy even the most persnickety carnivorous eaters. It’s not food that’s only good for vegans. It’s food that’s tasty and good for pretty much everyone.
In it, he covers cultural recipes from all over the world. That’s important in helping establish that vegan dishes can be light years away from bland and boring.
The variety is also important. Many folks may be omnivores, but often have friends or family who are either vegan by choice or due to health or diet restrictions. A quality vegan recipe can be enjoyed by nearly anyone.
Back in the early 1990s I developed an acute allergy to pork. Within a few months I was also allergic to beef. After those, came a slew of other food allergies that stuck with me more than seven years. As much as I sometimes craved a bite of burger, just the memory of what would happen to me if I ate it was enough to deter me.
It was often frustrating in social settings, like hot dog roasts.... Back then, I didn’t know how to make but a few vegan dishes. If I’d had this book, being vegan would have been lots more interesting. Whether or not you’re vegan, this collection of recipes appearing in The Lotus and the Artichoke, Vegan Recipes from World Adventures by Justin P. Moore is so worth your investment. Here's a small sample of what you'll discover in the content...
I hope you've been tempted to check it out and consider it as a new addition to your culinary library! Even if you're not vegan, the recipes are fantastic and will make tasty additions to whatever you're serving.
