I can't remember where I came across this book, more than a decade ago. I do know that by the end of the first chapter, Walt Deecki Sr. had won my heart with the setting and characters, easily earning a spot in my list of fav story-tellers.
From the beginning of my blogging career, I’ve been on a mission to promote Christian faith-based writers, especially those whose work wasn’t well known. Mr. Deecki was one of those. I’d never heard of him or his book (he had only one at the time), and for all the manuscripts and completed books I’ve had sent to me over the years by authors, asking for a review and promotion, there are few that make the cut. Sadly, most are omitted due to inclusions of adult content, even though I advise the writers that such content is an immediate deal breaker.
But, Mr. Deecki didn’t reach out to me with a review request. Instead, divine design led me to his book.
To provide you with an accurate comparison, Mr. Deecki writes in a style closely resembling Charles Dickens, another of my favorite authors. Mr. Deecki’s work is fresh and relative to this new century yet maintaining a polished, classic style woven into his work from start to finish.
Divine design not only led me to the book, but the good Lord’s fingerprints are evident in every paragraph. The story is exciting, comforting, encouraging and easily makes the rank of #SoulFood.
It’s never too late to make a friend--to bless them and be blessed by them.
In light of that, I hope you’ll consider adding this book to your own #SoulFood collection and even consider gifting it to friends during the holidays. Amazon has it available for Kindle at just $2.99 USD. The book makes an excellent, virtual stocking-stuffer and is soooo worth the investment!
On a side note, the featured book image is a soft-cover, gifted to me by Mr. Deecki himself. It came with a lovely letter of thanks for the previous reviews I’d done of his earlier versions, several years before on various websites.
The cover has since been updated again, but as this version is special to me, I’ve maintained it for this post. I’m confident you’ll find the book to be equally special and like me, it’ll be a favorite on your re-read list during seasons that warrant reading stories that empower, uplift and bring Son-shine to the spirit.
On a second-side note, if you’re of a mind to support the work of Christian authors, and are also dedicated to supporting the work of our military veterans, Mr. Deecki is disabled veteran as well, USAF retired. He is a husband and father of four, and a literary blessing to not only his native USA, but wherever faith-based literature is available.

This is the first of three reviews of Mr. Deecki' s works. Next week’s edition will be a review of the sequel, Angels on High: The Challenge. The story is equally absorbing and I’m excited to present it for you here.
‘Til next week, I’ll leave you with this diamond for your spirit-pouch...
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
